Bengaluru Police Introduces ASTraM App for Smart City Mobility

In a tech-savvy move, Bengaluru Police launches ASTraM app to monitor real-time traffic congestion and enhance city mobility.

Ahead of the National Road Safety Month, Bengaluru Police unveiled the ASTraM app, an acronym for Actionable Intelligence for Sustainable Traffic Management. This innovation promises to transform the city’s traffic management system.

Use of ASTraM App

ASTraM allows officials to track real-time congestions every 15 minutes. Instant alerts are dispatched to on-site officials and stakeholders for efficient traffic management. The app’s dashboard analytics provide detailed insights into traffic volume, vehicle count, types, safety, and road conditions across the city.

What sets ASTraM apart is its predictive feature, foreseeing potential congestions due to route diversions. The app employs a bot to report field incidents, ensuring real-time information for map services.

An exceptional feature of ASTraM is its ability to track ambulance movements. The control room monitors routes and alerts if an ambulance is stuck in traffic, guiding it with the shortest route.

Complementing this, Bengaluru Traffic Police installed 10 drone cameras to monitor real-time traffic during peak hours, enhancing overall surveillance.
